Another 33/12.5/20 Question

Another 33/12.5/20 Question

Postby brett0506 [OP] » Feb 02 2012, 10:56pm

I've been looking through tire and wheel threads for awhile now and have found a lot of information that contradicts itselff. I would like to put Ballistic Jesters and Nitto trail grapplers on my truck. I have a 2011 Silverado 2wd crew cab with the trailoring package. I will be putting the RC leveling kit on it here shortly. Would Ballistic Jesters (20x9) with a +12 offset and 295/55/20 trail grapplers fit? If there is rubbing would it only be on the fender well?

I have seen many threads that say this works and many say this wont work. If I could get some clarification it would be great. Thanks in advance.

Did you read the cool sticky at the top of this forum about tire and wheel sizing? ...just wondering, it is very informative (even if I do say so myself). :D

Check this video out, this will most likely answer your question. (This is not my truck)

I agree it is a very good sticky on determining the diagonal length and going over the basics of the offsets. I understand how the +, - and 0 offsets work but how do you incorporate them into your diagonal lengths and what you might run into (trimming wise) besides the fender wells? Figuratively speaking you can have a wheel that has a +12 offset and not fit but the same wheel with a 0 or - offset will fit. This is where my confusion comes into play. I would like to know what would what kind of problems I would run into by picking the Jesters with a +12 or -12 offset other than shifting the wheel in/out of the fender well. IE, would I hit the sway bar with one offset and not the other?

Thanks for this video that was very helpful in making my decision. Kinda wish my tax return would get here sooner so I could order these wheels. I noticed that you have 305/55/20's on your truck with just a RC leveling kit. Did you only have minor trimming in the fender wells?

Yeah I had to trim the back of the front fender, and they still rub on the front of the wheel liner when I turn, I am trying to figure out what else I can do. When my tires need to be replaced I will go with the 295/55/20 trail grappers as well (they are about 1/2 inch shorter than the 305s) Any ways here is a video I made of where i trimmed the fenders if you care to watch

Your tires look awsome! I love the chrome on the blue, looks great! Thanks for the videos and help. Im definitely gonna go with the 295/55/20 and do the cutting to make sure they don't rub. I see your running a 0 offset, the rims that I want only come in +12 and -12 offsets, do you think a -12 offset would work for me with out causing too many issues?

Tough to say...you will probably get away with just cutting like I did. You may rub slightly more on the front part of the wheel liner, and you may need to pull that back.

Where do you plan on buying the wheels and tires from?

I was going to use mrwheeldeal.com, it seems like Steve has a pod deal on the combo but, he only offers the rims I want in -12 and +12 offset. I might try some where else because I think a 0 offset would be better for the truck. Do you have any suggestions?
