Any way to refinish my rims??

Any way to refinish my rims??

Postby LS1BadBird [OP] » Jan 07 2012, 9:48pm

I got a 2002 Silverado for a daily driver and the truck is in great shape, but the rims are horribly corroded. I know on Trans Am wheels you can strip the clear coat, but is there anything I can do for these to make them look a little better?

Thanks.

If you have the time, you could take them off. Have them broken down and take them to a powder coat shop. Sandblasted and done any color you want.
But as far as anything to be done on the truck I have no idea.

I'm sure they are made the same way the T/A wheels are. A friend of mine who restores cars for a living did his (on a T/A) and they turned out really well. I think they are just machined aluminum with clear coating. He basicly just removed the clear coat, cleaned up any blemishes on his, then repainted the gold and covered them again with clear coat. It took a lot of effort and time, but it can be done.
