Goodyear Eagles junk in snow

just sharing my thoughts on these tires in the snow

I had the same tires on mine. I barely made it through the first winter with them. They should never put those tires on a truck.Even in the rain they would slide. I didn't give them a chance this winter. I took them off and put on some duratracs and I love them so far.

Here in Québec we have to put snow tires on our cars in the winter, it's law.... but I would never even try the Eagle LS-2 in the snow... they are great on dry, not so good on wet (they slip easily) and tried them once on wet grass, it felt as if I had slicks on...

Got myself a set of Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1 for the winter... will be looking at options when the LS-2 run out... but there aren't many tires in that 20" size made for SUVs and trucks!

The Firestone Destination A/T is a great replacement for the stock 20's. That is what came on my truck when I bought it used and I will be buying another set when these wear out. They have great snow and rain traction.

No such thing as a tire that can do everything.

A good "all around" tire means it's not very good at anything in particular. Even tires that are lableled "all season" come with an understanding that winter conditions mean relatively clear roads and going off road means driving down improved dirt roads.

Figure out what your driving needs are and perhaps you may need a dedicated set of snow tires or all terrain tires.
Marine because.

Did you look at the ratings and reviews on Firestone Destination A/T's that I mentioned? Based on over 20.6 Million miles, their lowest rating was 7.8 out of 10, which is still considered "Excellent," and the average score was 8.7 out of 10. That seems like a very good all around tire to me.

You are right. That's why I kept the eagles and they will go back on after the winter. I'll keep them until they go bad. I bought the duratracs specifically for the winter.

2nd that on the SS! I had the 20's w/ Goodyear Eagle LS2's and was shocked how good they handled in the winter. AWD system on that truck was killer. I drive like a maniac, towed my snowmobiles throughout the Adirondacks etc. 1st car or truck I never purchased dedicated snow tires for. Maybe running in auto 4WD would help you out...

Seems like some various opinions on the Goodyear Eagles. Could it be differences in driving style? I live in Florida, so snow is not an issue for me. But, we get plenty of rain, and I have not had any problem with them on wet roads. I have mine set at 35 psi, and they are wearing evenly, and handle fine. But I am older, and tend to drive more conservatively.
