help choosing tires

Postby mark5:9 [OP] » Jul 28 2012, 3:34am

Hello, I am looking to purchase new tires for my truck. I am down to 3 tires. Good Year Eagle LS2, Nitto Crosstek, or Cooper AT3.The Nitto are currently on sale at NTB for Buy 2 get 2, but the nearest one to where I am going to school is 110 miles, so if something happens, I have a little drive. The truck currently has the LS2 on it and they have seemed to hold up good. The salesman pointed out the AT3's today and liked the look, so dont know much on them. Do any of you guys have any experience with any of these tires and if so, what would you recommend? Thank you.

I've looked at the AT3. Great looking if you want aggressive tires. Very different that your LS2's. They will be noisier, but will give your truck an aggessive look and great traction. I have heard that they are difficult to keep balanced.
Sorry, can't compare to the Nitto...not familiar with those.

I've had the Cooper AT3's now for almost 9000 miles and love them. They do have an aggressive tread but are not noisy at all...just a little louder than regular street tires. I had them rotated at 7500 miles and they are wearing evenly. I had not experienced any balancing problems, but have notice the size of the wights were smaller after they were rebalanced and rotated. Traction wise they have been great. When we had snow covered ice this past winter I had no problems getting around. Same with any heavy rain. I don't do much in the way of off-roading, but have heard they are great for mud, gravel, etc. I've always had good luck with Coopers and will likely replace these with another set when needed.
