I got new tires this week and was told that the pressure sensors can only read up to 35 maybe 40psi? They are currently not installed on my new wheel and tires now. is this true?
I believe the same sensor is used in1500 through 3500 and the 3500 (and maybe 2500) series have tire pressures set around 80 psi. But it is not the max pressure that is read by the computer, it is the minimum pressure. Basically, the computer is looking for a pressure that is programmed into it that is approx. 15-20% lower than recommended pressure. When I sees this low pressure reading, it turns on the low TP message and idiot light.
My recommended pressure is 30 psi and I have run 40 psi with no problems when pulling a trailer.
Sounds good, I think I understand now. I'm just wondering if its really necessary to put them in my new wheels and tires.
Thanks Guys!
