Right now i have 3 fairly (very) bald tires, and one almost new tire which is the spare.. The other is flat.. Ive had the spare on for close to 9 months now, and winter in wisconsin is approaching. I have a sort of uphill driveway and dont go offroad too much.. I dont want to spend too much money but i want to be able to get around decently in the winter. Anybody in the same boat? I also had to get pulled outta the ditch twice last winter... But it was very deep and i was very sideways... Like i opened my drivers door and i climbed out toward the sky.. Lol
Well i dont want a "specific" tire, like one made for winter... Im thinking of just getting a cheap all-terrain tire... At this point, any new tire will be A LOT better than the ones i have now.
Since you are in WI, you probably have a Fleet Farm somewhere near you. If so, they carry Coopers. If that's too pricy, they carry a line called Road Runner. They are decent enough (for cheap tires) to get you through.
I drove through half of last winter with old tires. Sure, if you're skilled enough, you can hobble through, but those new tires make all the difference- trust me. You'll be glad you got the new tires once the white stuff falls.
My brother is in Wild Rose WI with a 2wd truck - every year he gets a "new" set of used tires off craigslist. A lot of people are very picky about tires and trade them off as soon as they show the slightest wear or are slightly uneven, which would be much better than what you have now. May want to consider that - he rarely spends over $100 on a full set.
Yeah, I'll probably end up going to fleet farm... I went there a few weeks ago and briefly looked at tires and liked what I saw. Thanks guys!
