Optional Tire Size

Optional Tire Size

Postby AZ Rider [OP] » Feb 02 2012, 9:32pm

Hey Everyone, new guy here! I'm looking to get new set of tires here in the next few months. So with the truck being stock i am currently running 245/70 R17 tires. My question is if I get a slightly bigger tire, like a A/T 265/70 R17, am I going to notice a difference with MPGs and performance? And is there anything else I should be concerned about by going with a bigger tire? Thanks for the responses in advance!

I'm thinking that the 265 probably won't make enough of a difference to even notice. There is less than a 4% difference in the total speed and right at 1" difference in both height and width of that tire. Of course, you have to factor in wind resistance with a wider tire, but it's not even going to be a huge difference. I'd say no more than 2 mpg. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

braking was good I do like the size looks better than the 245 did seems to set up a little higher but other than with the 245 my speedo and gps was the same with the 265 gps showed 2 mph more than speedo. They ARE bridgeston dueler a/t I got 65,000 miles on them now but after they got about 20,000 miles on them they got a loud roar almost as bad as super swampers.
