Rims or tires?

Postby Grzhoper1 [OP] » Apr 04 2012, 3:47am

I don't know what to do...I've read just about every post about rims and tires and can't make up my mind.... Should I get bigger tires for my stock 17 rims, or get 18" rims? Any thoughts?

It comes down to if you want more rim or more tire. You also have to think tires are going to be cheaper for 17's.

Rims or tires?

Postby Grzhoper1 [OP] » Apr 04 2012, 3:56am

I'm not worried to much about price ( my brother is manager at TP). I just wanted something bigger to fill up the space. Right now it looks like I have Lego wheels!

The 18 inch rim won't require a leveling kit nothing requires a leveling kit for even 20's. Size i'm not 100% sure but i would guess 285/65/18's. Which is max on a 1/2 ton with a leveling kit and no trimming.

I know the 3/4 tons sit higher but since mines only a 1/2 ton i'm not sure about tire size. I know on my 04 gmc 2500hd I had the torsion bars cranked with 285/75/16's and they fit fine.
