Tire pressure monitor reset?

Tire pressure monitor reset?

Postby wheeler82 [OP] » Sep 09 2012, 4:58pm

Help a brother out guys...yesterday morning i decided to rotate my tires for the first time. After doing so i noticed that when i went into my dic that the tire pressures were reading incorrectlly, ( i leave my rears around 40 and fronts around 36) . My question is how to reset that system or recalibrate it?? Im getting no error messeage as of right now i just can tell the system was reading pressure fine and now since i rotated is not, i also didn't see any reset info on my dic, i could have missed it but i doubt it. Thanks in advance everyone!!

Wheeler82. Are you talking about holding the buttons on your key fob?

2011 and newer gm cars and trucks require a relearn tool to relearn the sensors!!!

yes i am talking about holding the lock and unlock buttons on your fob. And i have to disagree with johndeere, because thats exactlly what my owners manual said, i needed a tire sensor relearn tool or something to that nature. I thought well what the hell ill try a combination between what the owners manual and what someone posted on here. I started by setting parking brake, then turned key to on position then i held the lock and unlock buttons on the fob at the same time till the horn beeped ( at least i think it beeped) and tire sensor relearn appeared on the dash. At this point i went out and starting with the left front tire i let air out of it for about 8 to 10 seconds or till the horn beeped which it did on every tire. After i did the lf, i went to the RF then the Right Rear, and then the LR. Making sure to do them in that order and the horn beeped after every tire and when i finsihed with the LR i checked and the dash said tire sensor relearn complete. so then all i did was reset all my tire pressures and i was done! :)

FYI, I followed Wheeler82's procedure and it worked as well on my 2011 LTZ manufactured in March 2011. Something else I noticed was that the headlamps and tail lamps light up according to which tire it wants to "learn" at that time. Thank you for posting your way of doing it.
