tire pressure monitor

Postby quickdrraw [OP] » Feb 02 2012, 4:38am

I have an 08 sierra SLE with tire pressure monitors. If i order new rims and tires, will this effect that mechanism in any way? Do I need to order anything extra to keep that system in place?

You can probably have the monitors put on the new wheels. I'm sure the tire shop will know how to do this.

I haven't gone out and looked at the monitors, but do they sit on the outside of the rim? I plan on buying a rim and tire combo and have them shipped to me balanced. Is the monitor switch something that I can do after I receive my rims?

They are inside the wheel. The tire must be taken off (or at least the bead has to be broken) to get to them.

That's what I was afraid of. I knew they would be, I just didn't want to pay for the balancing of the rims when they have to do the swap. Thanks!

That's it? I was thinking more like $10 per wheel.

It depends on where you go. I think the $10 he mentioned was per tire.
