TPMS problem

TPMS problem

Postby medicdogg [OP] » Oct 06 2012, 7:01pm

I have just recently got a 2007 2500HD NBS truck. The dash has a warning to service TPMS. Im not really interested in taking this to dealer for this, so I wonder if anyone knows how to fix this or to disable it so it doesnt show on dash. I check my tires regularly so Im not overly concerned with having monitor.

Hello and welcome to the site from Truro Nova Scotia , i don't think it's possible to diable the TPMS as it is part of your vehicle safety system as mandated by the Goverments> does your truck have original wheels , if not perhaps the sensors were not installed or transferred from the other wheels ?

You cannot disable it. Why is it alarmed? Are the sensors installed?

Yes original wheels and as far as I can tell sensors are there. I don't have to disable but would like it fixed and if I can do it all the better.

I am gonna try the relearn process but wasnt sure if that was what I needed to do. These newer GM trucks are new to me, this is the first truck Ive had in the 2000's.

Well i can tell you tpms can be a pita. Jacob is right, they could be bad. Ide try a relearn first... Local tire shop should have the tool to do it the quick way. Youll need them if you get new ones anyway...

Have you tried this yet? The manual process of adjusting the pressures when in learn mode wouldn't work for me due to a combination of things I think.. (lift, bigger tires, unknown age of sensors). Though, a local tire shop has a new handheld tool for reprogramming the TPMS. My truck computer easily recognizes the wheel positions with the handheld unit every time I get a rotation at the shop. So I'm a bit stumped why the manual mode doesn't work for me..
