Calgary flood

Calgary flood

Postby star_deceiver [OP] » Jun 24 2013, 4:19am

I'm sure everyone's seen the news so far, youtube vids, ect. Well, here's a few I snapped!

From Thursday June 20th:

The Elbow river, just east of Bow falls

Image

See the black in front of the bridge? The river's eating it away. That bridge, as I've read on the news, is now downstream.

Image

This is the entrance to the popular quadding area Mclean creek. That road is now gone.

Image

The Ghost river. I'm about 20-30kms North of Banff on the other side of the mountains.

Image

This is the end of the road as there never was a way across the river.... the road is just a little shorter now.

Image

This is a lot steeper then it looks to get back up from the river.

Image

A little further downstream.

Image

Today, June 23rd, overlooking the city center.... the water's gone down quite a bit!

Image

That white Impala in the middle was underwater Friday night.

Image

Mmmmmmm, brown!

Image

And there's more rain tomorrow!

Good to hear from ya, That's some crazy stuff, glad your place is ok. My Foreman has some good friends in high river and water was up to their deck on the second story of their house. Can't even imagine.

I head down to Banff and then on to WA July 25 weekend, might be looking for a new route if there's no bridges left on highway 1

Crazy pics, I have been reading and watching video and it's almost unbelievable. Do take care when your checking things out and snapping pics. All the best to you, your family and your friends during this trying time.

Those are some good pictures. I live in the far NW of Calgary, so luckily no flooding in my area. But I've had lots of family and friends evacuated from their homes cause of it. Stay safe and dry every one :)
