ABS LIGHT ON DASH

ABS LIGHT ON DASH

Postby fullthrotle [OP] » Jul 09 2014, 1:16am

My abs light went on today, i scanned with my reader and my reader said no codes were bad, don't know what to do about it. Is it a sensor? And if it is , is there 1 or four or what. Please advise. My truck is a 2005 silverado crew cab, 5.3 vortec.

Scanner wont catch ABS unless you are at a dealer. You most likely have a bad hub or wheel speed sensor, have you installed/worked on anything recently?

Mine has been on ever since I unplugged it at 35k miles. The motor wound run with the ignition off and kill the battery so I had no choice. I also hear that gm is being investigated for rusty brake lines which I far over do on these trucks. They should be looked at for the rusty backing plates as well.

Bought a new truck and put the for sale sign on the 2000 and the abs light came on first time ever,it went away. I did some searching and found a video on fixing the ecbm module. The solder joints come loose .when I get home I will look and see if I can find link. Check the brake fluid also.

I had the same problem on my 2005 Silverado. In my case it was the wheel speed sensor ground that caused it. Cleaned the ground wire (all four), problem solved.

Good luck and keep us updated on your findings.
