GM's Brake Recall

GM's Brake Recall

Postby SierraWilks [OP] » Feb 13 2020, 8:22pm

I just got the card for recall N192268490 Increased Brake Pedal Effort....exactly what do they do for this recall? I'm not having issues and have a LewTune so I'm curious.

It’s still an open recall. It takes little time to have done.

I just had it done today on my '17...complete waste of time..little or no improvement...I think they are too cheap to replace the brake booster -so they are going this route, and hope it don't blow up before 60k...

Its not the booster it's the vacuum pump.

Pull off your hose on your booster and see if there is oil in it. Also run the truck pump the brakes turn the truck off and listen for hissing around the booster.

My pump and booster were both replaced around 1k

For the programming recall? Or the vacuum pump?

There are two different ones.

I actually just got a second letter telling me
I need to get my brake programming recall done ASAP. I’m waiting till next month since my inspection is due then

Re: GM's Brake Recall

Postby Rambodog » Feb 18 2020, 3:24am

I had the steering software update and noticed it indeed took less effort at low speeds to maneuver. The update increases voltage so it should be better. I went to have the Recall Booster software update done and my truck steering feels weak just like it used to. Noticed it right away pulling out of parking spot from visit to have Booster update and asked them about it. Of course there is no possible way the past steering update could be affected with the Booster update they said. I also called the Dealer after I got home. I wanted it noted on the way home from the Dealer that my Trailer Brake warning light came on and the truck dinged at me for about 3 seconds and went away. They basically shrugged it off. It has not returned since. I call BS, but what do I do? Their system shows the truck had the updates. Pisses me off cause I really liked the steering improvement. It got rid of that chatter feeling when turning slow or almost still. Wheel would power full lock to lock sitting still with almost no effort.
