How many of you all have drum brakes on the rear of your trucks? My 2000 has disc on all 4s, but my 2010 and 2013 has Drum brakes in rear

The 99-04 trucks had rear disk. The 05-13 had rear drum. Then in 2014 they went back to rear disk.

However there are exceptions to this. The HD trucks had disk rears since 2000 with the gmt800 and kept them all the way to current. Some of the 1500s in the gmt900 line also got rear disk with the max towing package.

Rear drum isn't a bad thing. They work perfectly fine, have a WAY more effective parking brake, and have less issues as they age. The rear disk, especially in the gmt800 trucks, was, and is a constant battle of fighting rusted backer plates and seized calipers. The drum brakes were way more reliable and less maintenance.

You know I never thought about that on the disc brakes that is a good point. Thanks for sharing that info I completely forgot about that about what all you listed above. Thanks again!

Both my trucks and wife's Saturn are rear drums. With the proper tool kit they are quick and easy to change.
Best of all is the quality of shoes now, PowerStop and Velocity make quality shoes.

Wanted to add, unsure of PS but Velocity is 100% asbestos free

I wasn't looking forward to working on drums when I redid them on my NNBS a couple of years ago. It had been over 20 years since the last time I worked on drum brakes.

Yeah....My '02 I sold had rear discs and the new 2011 has drums....was disappointed but it stops just fine and yes, I think the e-brake works better. I did the brakes myself on the '02 and think the engineering of the e-brake was pretty funky.

Speaking of funk......I also have "drums".
