Hello I have a 2012 GMC Sierra SLE and I have the rear drums and I was wondering if anyone can help on how I can convert the rear drums to Rotors brakes.

If you're mechanically inclined, you can buy a conversion kit and DIY. The exact how to isn't anything I know personally, and if you're not familiar with moderate mechanical things, I'd suggest having help from someone who does..

Depends on quality. A quick search and check on Summit's website showed kits from $350 and up. I don't know if that is everything you would need, or if there is more to do.

And to confirm, by rotors, you mean disc brakes? I read on another thread here that GM went back to drums in the rear due to poor performance and other issues. Drums works fine for stopping, considering 85% of stopping power comes from the front brakes.

As Rick told you, either DIY if you absolutly know mechanics and brakes or get it installed at a reputable shop.

Kits are usually $900+
Here is a link to SSBC which seems to be a reasonable priced kit. If you go with wilwood it might be 2-3 grand

You can add the stock discs quite easily on the drum trucks. It's funny how drums are "better" yet any SUV, HD truck or even the 6.2 equipped trucks from the same era as the OP all had rear discs.... lol. And what a surprise... come 2014 they have rear discs again and not surprisingly use the same rotor and caliper as my 2013 6.2 truck has.

Because it's right at the top on another forum here you go... full step by step to install OEM rear discs. No overpriced kits required.

Add ease of maintenance for future brake jobs... because no one likes messing with all those damn springs and small pieces of hardware when it comes to a drum brake job.
