2001 Ex cab heater problem

2001 Ex cab heater problem

Postby Old Doug [OP] » Nov 08 2020, 12:55am

Hello first post i am a truck mechanic by trade but my buddy has a 01 that he bought to drive back and forth to his dialysis treatments. He got it at the end of last winter and told me the heater wasnt that worm. We flushed the core 3 times once with a cleaner, replaced the fillters and another guy at our shop replaced the blend door motor. One heater hose is so hot i cant hold it long and the other is just a little cooler. I think we replaced the thermostat the gauge runs were every chevy runs and we checked with a temp gun. I think the air coming out of the duct is 80 degrees. If i wasnt so snowed under with work i would pull the heater box and see whats going on but i hope i dont have to do that.

You can pull the fan motor and find out what is happening with a mirror or phone camera.
