auto climate control

Postby deejay412 [OP] » Aug 14 2020, 1:26am

Need some help. I've always used the auto setting on my heating and ac. recently when i have it set on 72, the ac will stay on and the fan on high until its way colder than 72. If I raise the temp setting up to 80 it will slow the fan speed down. It just seems like it is 8 degrees off or so. Any suggestions on what to look at?

You can try to re calibrate the Climate control to see if that helps, there are many how to's on this forum and online for re calibration procedure no sense on me typing it up again. If it does not cure it let us know.

There is some sort of ambient temperature sensor in the cab, and that may be where the issue lies...not sure where it is, as I don't have one in my older truck.

The temperature sensor in an 07-13 truck is just above the drivers head. There is a small speaker looking grill thing up there. A lot of times when they go out...it will begin to start making noise. There is a small fan in it to pull air through the device which has bearings in it.

Just found this thread on our site....scroll to the last post on first page from GrimJepper....looks to be what you'd want to look at. Could try getting canned air to blow out dust, etc first, before doing the work to replace..

thanks ricka. It seems like that sort of did it. I tried the recalibrate thing this morning and it still continued. I popped the little cover off above my head and noticed the fan wasn't spinning pulling any air into it. That makes sense why it was a few degrees off. I blew some air into it and the fan has worked ever since. I'll probably let it go until it stops again and then I'll replace it.
