Fan not blowing

Fan not blowing

Postby 11silverado. [OP] » Oct 21 2020, 11:37am

I have a 2011 crew cab. When I turn on the heat or the a/c it blows good for 5-10 minutes. After that I can still hear it trying in the dash but nothing. Had freon level checked and vacuum pulled. It was all good. Any ideas?

If you still hear it running inside the dash...but no air out the vents, I would think it could be an issue with the damper doors closing off. Which is controlled by the mode door actuator located just to the left of that box above the center hump...and above the gas pedal.

That's the blend door actuator right?

They are similar in shape and function. There are two that are blend door actuators that are in line of the air ducts which mix or blend the air from hot and cold to give the desired temp. The one I mentioned is called a mode door actuator because it changes the damper doors to direct air flow based on the selection you make....whether front vents or floor or defrost ducts.

Yes. You may want to pull the old one first and see if you can rotate the dampers by hand. If something internally is stuck or damaged in there and it is not the actuator itself....no need to spend money on that. You can also change the air setting while watching that actuator and cam and see if things look to be working right or not to help verify things first.
