Hear water moving around when accelrating

Postby robertbassin5 [OP] » Mar 25 2018, 4:01pm

I have a 1999 chevy silverado 1500 4.3L. I have been hearing water moving around on the passenger side behind the dash when accelerating for the last several years now. Truck not losing coolant nor is it overheating. Any ideas?

Air bubbles in the heater core maybe? Try burping it.

Also check the evaporator drain, if it is plugged you would get a build up of water in the box. There should also be a drain for the air intake that is at the base of the windshield, look on the passenger side behind the wheel well.

I would guess air in the heater core as well.
My sister owned a saturn that sounded like it had a 5 gallon tank half full of water under her dash on the passenger side. She drove it for years like that. Aside from being a piece of junk, they car otherwise showed no other symptoms. I hated riding it in, I kept thinking at any point water was going to come pouring out.

Ok. How do you burp it. I have looked online and really can't find anything. Also check ac drain not clogged. I have checked this and water does drip from it.

You say moving around, not gurgling? Maybe plugged weep holes in the door.

Gurgling is a sign of air in the cooling system as some of the others have said.
Leaving the rad cap loose and letting it run with heater at max for a while once it's reached temp. can get the air out.
