Dexos-D?

Dexos-D oil

dexosD -- 0w20 diesel only, very special purpose right now. It may say diesel on the bottle but it's not for all GM diesel engines.

Mobil is a GM tier 1 supplier so they have the upper hand till more vehicles start calling for it and there is a bigger demand, might be sometime?

Today I found Mobil 1 ESP X2 0W-20 is the exact product from Mobil that's certified for Dexos-D. It's still so new that the Mobil website shows a greyed-out "No Sellers Found" button that would ordinarily show where to obtain it:

https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants/for-personal-vehicles/our-products/motor-oils/mobil-0w-20-low-viscosity-oils

I've hunted around various websites for a couple of hours seeing if anyone has it listed, anyway. So far, I found:

Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M27YIJW/ $20/L (about the same as a quart)
Summit Racing: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mob-125386 $10/qt

I'm checking with my local GM dealers to see how much they're selling the ACDelco stuff for and will report back when I get replies.

One of my local dealers got back to me and it's a little over $8.50/qt through them.

It looks like you can buy it on Amazon:

According to Exxon, this is Dexos-D compliant

Yup. One of my previous posts in this thread mentions the Mobil1 ESP X2 being DEXOS-D compliant, though the 6-pack hadn't been available then. Good find. That plus a single qt gets to the 7 qts required for an oil change on the LM2 (seriously - why 7 and not 6 or 8?)

I also found a handy package deal that includes 7 qts of the ACDelco stuff with a matching PF66 filter in a few places. Amazon has it listed here for about $80: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BS5HD1P/

There's an outfit in California that carries that same package deal for closer to $50, DMax Store: https://dmaxstore.com/products/?route=p ... ct_id=6490

And, for those of you that are into this sort of thing, the Fumoto drain valve (replaces the drain plug bolt for a ball valve, and available at both Amazon and DMax Store) is model F107 and its variants.

https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants/for ... -x2-0w-20/

The the product data sheet indicates it is DexosD licensed (same license number as Mobil Super 3000 XE2 on the DexosD approvals site)

I was out and about today and noted that Walmart has Quaker State and Pennzoil 0W-20 Dexos oil available. Tractor Supply also has Mobile 1 and Valvoline versions of Dexos rated oils.

Now, if the parts stores would start stocking the correct oil, air and fuel filters...

Note that the LM2 engine requires DEXOS-D. The original DEXOS or newer DEXOS 2 spec isn't rated for these engines. Don't get confused and think that any DEXOS-compliant 0w20 will work. If you have an LM2 3.0L Duramax, be sure to get the DEXOS-D stuff.

Right now, as far as I know, only ACDelco and Mobil have products that meet that spec as mentioned earlier in this thread and elsewhere.
