2009 2500 duramax questions

Postby Bolski08 [OP] » Mar 26 2017, 9:06pm

So I need to upgrade in trucks and having a hard time with it due to money. I have a 6800 lb travel trailer and a 2011 1500 sierra. I feel its too much for it and wanna upgrade. I found a 2009 2500 6.6 thats affordable but unsure. tis truck will also be my daily driver. I do about 55 miles a day 5-6 days a week for work, mostly highway and no off roading but need reliability in snow if it happens. Im tosse between the major brands so need help. I like the roomy fords but hearing horror stories of the ones I like in diesel. Rams i like but hear about transmissions. Someone tell me why to buy a Dura max over other trucks? I am a GM fan foremost but I need reliability and room for 2 carseats in back.

The 2009 LMM is a good selection. It's prior to the DEF in 2011 and a year or two after the start of DPF. I have the crew cab and when the family is loaded up we have two car seats and a booster seat in the back. It's plenty of room for trips into town but when we are going for a long periods of time it gets a little cramped with all the bags and whatever else we need to put in the floor board directly behind the front seats. I'm actually considering a mega cab for that reason. You should head over to Duramax forums and read up on the LMM, there's a lot of knowledge over there.

I was in the exact same situation as you last week. For years I towed my 5900 lb travel trailer with my 05 sierra 1500. It had no problem towing on the highways but going up thru the mountains on the back roads in NY it struggled a bit. I just 2 days ago bought a 2008 2500hd duramax . I hooked my trailer up today and drove around for a little bit, truck pulled it fine didn't even know it was back there. No need for the weight distributing hitch, it didn't even squat an inch. Plenty of room in the back for my kids car seat. I'd rather have to much truck then not enough.
