New Duramax

Has anyone purchased the "new" Duramax?

Funny how they don't mention D***e till the end. Poor little Cummins.

The LML is badass (hp wise) but things still need to be ironed out. The DEF issue is a major pain for some new owners right now. You guys don't see/hear about those issues on this forum cause hardly anyone owns a Duramax here.

We have one on the farm and it's doing just fine. (less than 3k miles on it) I'm pretty jealous of how nice the interior is.......mmmm mmmm.

You have an LML and an LMM?

I'm sure the winter fuel doesn't do anything to help mileage.

I just go my new truck and I must say I dont like the idea of having to put the DEF fluid in. Besides the ridiculous prices for the fluid in Canada it also sucks trying to put it in. Does anymore have any detailed info on the supposedly rework available?

I have a new 2011 2500 HD Diesel, sold my 2010 HD Diesel, the 2010 is not even close to the 20111 truck and the same price. 2011 has Improved suspension 3" leafs, much softer ride, HD brakes/braking, great exhaust braking, boxed frame, gas mileage very much improved both towing and in town, load capacity for towing 5th wheel. The power is unbelievable it has a different power band more towards 1/2- up before it cranks before you know it your doing 80+ at 3/4 throttle. I don't mind adding the DEF if it helps lower emission. I have about 5,000 miles getting 15+ in town and 18-19+ on highway if you do 70 not bad for a 396 HP beast.

Re: New Duramax

Given all of the unresolved "issues" with my 2010, I went to look at an identical 2011. All of the above is true, the trucks look the same but do not drive the same.

The dealership I went to was how should i say, PROUD of their truck and was not willing to budge from sticker. I could live with that but they only wanted to give me $20K with 25K miles for mine. I explained I was willing to work with them but I was not going to give them my truck for 18K under its value in this area. They brought the sales manager in who started posturing and and being agressive. I thanked him when he stopped to catch his breath and told him to creativly procreate himself and left.

Looks like I'll have to live with the squeaking dash top and clunk in the "b" pillar or find a dealer willing / capable of fixing it. Fixed the speaker rattle myself by upgrading the speakers and putting butyl tape between the two internal rear door panels. Butyl tape may be the answer to fixing the dash top, but it's too hot to spend all day taking a dash out and putting it back in right now, maybe this winter.
