Installing On-Board GDI Valve Cleaning Fogger..

Update 2-29-20

Getting back at it today to try and get this thing back together and on the road again soon. I did order a couple of accessories to compliment this kit, since I'm not really using it quite like it was originally engineered for..

1. The activation switch I'm using is a single-throw, single-pole, 12v/20a rated momentary-on round rocker snap-in switch w/ a red LED indicate "on" light. It's small, it's discreet and it should look "factory" on the dashboard. Haven't decided just where I want it located yet, but it will likely be somewhere obscure. I chose the normally-off type, so it couldn't be accidentally tuned on when not wanted and would need to be deliberately "toggled" for the system to operate.

2. I also ordered a supply "shut-off" solenoid so the engine wouldn't siphon the liquid from the reservoir since the nozzle is plumbed to the intake manifold vacuum source when the system was not being used.

Also grabbed a couple of mountable weather-proof 25 amp fuse holders for the injection pump and cut-off solenoid.

Can't forget the 1/4", white-stripe (high temp) split loom for the wiring so it can look "right and tight" when finished. *BTW- always use the white stripe temp. resistant zip-loom inside engine compartments, (-40°F to 300°F rating) otherwise the standard black loom (cheaper) will sag/melt when subjected to high under hood temperatures - especially in the Summer.

You can get all of this stuff from Dell City at http://www.delcity.net with the exception of the solenoid, as that comes from Snow Perf. directly. They (Del City) have high quality products and are awesome to do biz with!

Getting there...

Injection nozzle and quick-connect hose fitting installed into manifold. Engine is back together and ready for pump mounting, reservoir tank mounting and wiring. ;)

As Forest Gump would say; "I'm..I'm kinda' tired... I think I'll go home nowww".

Update: 3-2-20

Made a slight change in how I'm going to implement a fluid "shut-off" device that would keep the cleaning liquid from being siphoned out of the reservoir and into the intake manifold while the system isn't being used, due to the injection nozzle tip being exposed to engine vacuum.

I found a mechanical one-way check valve device to do the job over the electrical solenoid device I originally posted above. Either would work fine, but I like to keep things like this simple if I can and the less electrical circuits needed to make this system work, the better.

This simply and easily installs in-line between the injection nozzle and the pump outlet, is serviceable and is compatible with 100% concentration of methanol if you so choose to run a system that rich. It is kind of expensive, but its made in the USA and has a proven track record from what I researched. When it arrives, I'll post my thoughts on it...

Received some goodies today, so one more shipment expected and I should be good to go. Hopefully get this thing running and back on its feet within the week. ;)

BTW - Got WAYYYYY more high temperature wire loom than I could ever need! Thought I was getting a few small winds of this stuff, but got a whole spooled box of it instead! LoL!

Update 3-10-20

Finally got all my stuff I ordered, so I was back at it a bit yesterday afternoon/evening working on the electrical, mounting the pump, etc. I plan on taking the truck on a 500-mile round trip this coming weekend, so I'll have a chance to test this out thoroughly. ;)

Pump Preparation:

The weather-resistant injection pump will be installed outside in the engine bay, where it's partially exposed to the elements, moisture, dirt, etc., so I added a weather-resistant electrical connector on the end of the pump wires accordingly. If it ever needs serviced or replaced, it will unplug easily.

I already had a weather-pack connector kit from Del-City I previously used on a past project, so I snagged the related connector parts and installed them onto the pump wiring harness. The female end installs on the pump wiring and the male end installs on the rest of the wiring harness, using the special terminal crimping pliers that come with the kit.

The following pics outline the installation process.
1. Install the connector seal on the wires.

2. Using wire strippers, strip a small amount of the casing from each one to expose the wires. Twist each end to tighten up the braids.

3. Using the terminal crimpers, position the wire terminals into the crimpers, install the wires as shown and crimp the terminal securely on the wire end.
