Should I?

Re: Should I?

Postby TheMightyWhitey » Mar 17 2020, 11:11pm

I have a 2016 Silverado that I purchased new in July, 2016.

I did my research prior to buying; and had the Elite Catch Can, and the Range AFM Disabler installed on the truck with less than 300 miles on the clock. She now has 82,6xx miles on her, and has been essentially flawless in performance. Just changed engine oil today. Prolly way less than 25 miles total in V4 mode since owned.

Or just buy it if the numbers work for you and enjoy it. I bought mine new in 2016 and have been racking up the miles ever since. It will be 4 years old at the end of next month and I'm at 82,xxx miles. No catch can, no tune, no range device. I've changed the oil religiously when the oil monitor gets down into the low single digits. I don't beat on it, but I don't necessarily take it easy either. It's hit or miss, but that generation truck is leaps and bounds better than it's predecessor in the AFM department.

Just installed one in my 2012 Silverado 1500. 5.3 L. So far the MPG has gotten worse by about 2 L per 100 KM's. Throttle response is certainly better. Will the mileage get better as time goes on? Anyone? Also I have been reading about the installation. Instructions said just to plug it in and I did. No problem. No tools needed, apparently. I have been reading on other forums that you should disconnect the battery first. Tools needed.

You're now losing 60 miles for every half gallon of gas? Am I translating correctly? That makes no sense....
Fill up your tank, measure your mileage "old school," without the DIC, then calculate your mileage.

Also...a Range Device does not improve throttle response.

It sounds like he is saying that he is actually using a half gallon more per 60 miles.

So for instance if he got 15mpg before and drove 60 miles that would use 4 gallons. Now he is using 4.5 gallons so now he would get 13.3 mpg

Apologies guys....still on drugs from surgery....Math skills compromised....LOL!!!

That's a lot. I call BS.
When i first went with a Range Device, lost nothing, gained nothing.
When I switched over to a LEW Tune I lost 1/10th MPG, and that has been consistent over the last 18 month's....Winter blend fuels, summer blend fuels, towing, not towing, etc.
