2003 Silverado Fuel Pump, which one to buy

Postby MattawaJack [OP] » Feb 14 2020, 12:32am

Hi guys I'm new here and looking for some advice. Without first disassembling the truck is there any way to tell which fuel pump I need. There is a 2 elect connector and a 1 elect connector version available. I really don't want to start the project until I have the parts in hand. It is -21 celsius here right now and expected to stay cold cold for the next 5 days and I have to work outside, so I would like to get it done in one operation if possible. The truck is a 2003 4x4 5.3 z71. Thanks in advance.

I remember I had the same question when I replaced mine a few years ago. I figured out that if I had an RPO Code of EVA, then the two-wire connector was the one I needed. Thank you Delphi and Rock Auto.

IIRC you can fit your hand back in there and feel the top of the pump to see what you have also, either that or it may even be possible to see it from the fender well.

Yes, it is possible to get a hand up there and feel to see if there is one or two plugs. It is also possible to replace the fuel tank pressure sensor without having to remove the tank or lift the bed.

I had the same issue when my fuel pump went out on my 02 Sierra. I laid on the ground driver side and stuck my hand up there with my cell phone and took several pics until I could see what the fuel pump connectors on top of the gas tank looked like. Mine turned out to be 2 connectors. Paid less than $150 for an AC Delco MU1613 pump from Rock Auto with 2 day shipping.
This is what I saw

Thanks everyone for the help. Turns out it is the 2 connector unit. I have to admit I did cheat a little, I cut an access hole on the box bed, I just couldn't bring myself to work lyng in the snow. That's what happens when you get old, fat and lazy I guess!
