After dead battery AC is running strange

After dead battery AC is running strange

Postby bubbanm [OP] » Sep 15 2020, 3:11pm

Hi Everyone
I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado LS with the 4.8L engine. I was driving it yesterday and stopped at a store and when I came out the battery was completely dead. I had the battery tested and it was indeed dead so I put a new battery on it. The strange part is that now the passenger side AC vents is blowing hot air and not cold. Could the battery cause that?
It only started after I put the new battery on.

Check to see if the AC is "short cycling", meaning it turns on/off every few seconds.
That would point to a clog, a leak, or other problem preventing regulated pressure on the high and/or low pressure line(s).

I will check but the driver side is blowing ice cold air, could it still be that issue?

Blend door could be stuck.

Yes it can. I don't remember the exact procedure but it was something like this; pull A/C fuse and leave out for about 10 minutes or so, re-install fuse, turn key on, do not start, and you should hear the A/C controller/blend door re-calibrating itself. Like i said, it's been awhile since I've done this, others may have a method also.
