Airbag light 2013 Silverado

2013 Silverado airbag light with no codes

Airbag light 2013 Silverado

Postby dlp1500 [OP] » Aug 27 2020, 2:05am

I did a search and didn’t find the results I needed so hoping someone has had and resolved this same issue.

First it’s a 2013 Silverado 5.3 4x4 with 104K. I love this truck and have had very few issues.

I have an airbag light on and took it to Napa for diagnostic with no codes coming up. Anybody have a clue what this could be or where I should start? I have never been in a wreck and I have taken very good care of it thus far.

Thanks in advance for steering me in the right direction.

I just had a similar issue with my 2009 Sierra 1500. My cheap code reader and the ones at Advance Auto and O’Reilly’s could not read read the airbag codes. I bought an Autel Bluetooth code reader from Walmart for $50. This and their app for GM allowed me to see that the left side impact sensor was bad. I switched it to the right side and the error moved so I was able to confirm the sensor was bad, not the wiring. I bought a new sensor for $115 at O’Reilly’s and that resolved my issue. I could have gotten the sensor cheaper from RockAuto but was headed out of town and wanted I fixed.

So I went to Walmart picked up the scan tool and it still didn’t read. I rechecked the fuse and sure enough it was blown. I must have pulled the wrong fuse the first time.

Anyone have any guesses what might be causing the fuse to blow? Yes I know it’s a short but is this common? Any leads would be appreciated.

I have a 2014 and I had a wire pull out of the clockspring behind the steering wheel. May look into that.
