Cooling Fan Circuit, 05 Sierra

Cooling Fan Circuit, 05 Sierra

I'm having trouble with the cooling fans, and hope someone has good wiring diagrams and can shed some light.

I recently got a code P0480, so yesterday I dug into it to try to find the problem. When checking the fuses and relays in the small panel just behind the main underhood panel, things got worse. After removing and testing relays 1 and 2, I proceeded to try removing relay 3 (it was stuck). As I pulled on it, a fan came on and stayed on. So I removed relay 1 and that turned the fan off. Once I got relay 3 out of its socket, I found a burned and melted receptacle around pin 30.

My version of the Haynes manual is no help. It supposedly covers 1999-2005, but it essentially says all models have a belt-driven fan (not true), and the wiring diagrams don't show the cooling fan circuits.

Thanks very much,

Jay

No, not Hybrid, not HP2. It's a 5.3 (T).
