Glitch in electrical

Postby ChevyTexas [OP] » Sep 23 2020, 11:17pm

I have a 2014 Sierra, I have noticed that it has started to glitch the a/c, radio, and when it happens the air bag light illuminates. Then in about 5 seconds everything comes back on. Then in random patterns it will keep doing it. Any help would be appreciated!

First, how old is your battery? If it's the OEM original equipment battery that came with the truck. I'd say it's well past its useful service life, especially in our Texas heat, and you may have a dead cell or two.

Just FYI, I replaced my OEM battery at 5 years, 3 months, with a Duracell AGM battery.

Change it out before you get stuck. These trucks do weird things when the battery starts to go.

Second, check and clean all your main battery connections, cables and grounds for cleanliness and tightness. Peel back a little insulation on the main cables, and make sure the strands aren't deteriorating and corroding from within.

Ill have to echo what he said, especially remove and cleanall the body grounds. I have also had tarnished fuses cause issues. While the battery is down pull and clean each fuse and reinsert.

Yeah, what those ^^^^^^^^^^ guys said.

Connections can cause all kinds of electrical gremlins and your truck is just old enough to start having them, especially if you're in cold climate where they use salt on roads. That stuff causes rust and corrosion fast!

LOL, well, I actually looked at his user info before I commented about the location. I see 'Texas' in his username, but that doesn't mean anything.

Regardless, the comments about battery and connections are still spot on! ;)
