Customers were complaining about long start times when the new engines came out in 2014. So now the pump primes itself before you even turn the key on.

Thanks for the explanation now I can explain to wife.gov since she was the one that pointed it out to me. Although I think it might have better for them to "prime" the pump when the key was inserted I suppose they had their reasons. It's not a given that someone will start the truck when they get in, at least I don't!

It doesn’t do it every time. Only after it’s been sitting for a while.

Re: Help identifying noise

Postby skydiver57 » Sep 21 2020, 1:59am

Just bought a 2020 Sierra 6 cyl WT and noticed the same "actuator" type sound ...happens when i double click the key fob to unlock, and sounds like its "behind" the gas door...so i did a fast Google search, found this forum 2 down from the top, and signed up. Glad Im not the only one, so if anybody has a definative answer, would be great to know...( been driving a F**d Ranger 4cyl for 17 years since new, so this is a major upgrade for me) I figure 17 years in Kansas heat/freeze with no AC, manual, radio n heater for options, I DESERVED a new truck...!
