I got everything all installed and running. Went pretty well. There is no info at all included with the radio. There is some info online...but even that is marginal. But some of it is fairly straight forward. I will document what I came across in an effort to help those who do the same.
Started the morning with this pile of stuff:
Here is the before shots:
Began by pulling off the trim around the radio. This is always nerve wracking to me...they put like 9 or 10 clips to hold it on...not sure why...i think it could withstand a shuttle launch...
After removing all the screws on the sides, lower aux plug/switch panel comes out as well as the hvac controls. Then the radio slides out.
I then started attaching all the wires to the new radio unit.
There is a grey plug in the harness (mine is the Bose set up) that is not used since I have no video on the oem radio. My set up has me tapping into the video feed over by the drivers foot kick panel. I used Posi-tap to connect to the positive and negative video feed from the OEM camera. I just dug through my old cables and found a single RCA cable and plugged the male end into the female plug going into the back of the radio. Then I cut it to length after routing through the dash and stripped back the shielding.
I put a piece of shrink tubing around it to protect the wires.
Installed the dash cam up behind the mirror. The wires fit nicely into the mirror channel then ran across the headliner and down the A-pillar.
