Im in the middle of rebuilding my 2001 LM7 5.3L. Im wondering if anyone has done the double roller timing chain mod. From what I understand theres a kit with a double roller chain and gears and oil pump spacer plates. It says you may have to grind the timing cover for clearance once you space the oil pump out to clear the double chain. Has any one done this ? Is it worth it or is it more trouble than its worth?
I think the comp cams part number for the gen3 chain and gears is: CCA-7102. Thankyou

If you were building a high horsepower race motor with plenty of high-end mods or even boosted, it might be worth it. Otherwise, I don't see a need for a double-roller set. The timing chains on these motors are not a weak link.

Even on high hp boosted stuff like I own I use a good quality single true roller. It's all you ever need... hell the stock one lives 300000 miles usually with no issues so think about that lol.

which good quality one would you recommend ? And i'm putting a stage 3 truck cam in. Should I get one with adjustable gears ? Or just go straight stock ?

I have used Cloyes mostly... or comp which is probably made by cloyes anyway lol. If you are going to degree the cam which I recommend you do an adjustable is nice. The basic ones usually give you 2 degrees of advance or retard or of course straight up.
