engine stumbles when pressing on accelerator

Postby robertbassin5 [OP] » Aug 07 2020, 1:32pm

I have a 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500 4.3L V6. When I start the truck it starts and idle just fine. while in park I give it gas to get it warmed up, when I do that it stumbles and misses until it gets warmed up and then it is fine. About a year ago I changed the coil, purge valve, vapor canister vent solenoid, and the fuel filter because that what is doing before I changed those parts. I ran fine until recently and now it it is doing it again. Any ideas?? Thanks

Have you checked the fuel pressure? Could be the fuel pump.

Fuel pressure is around 64 psi. I don’t have any trouble starting it. It cranks right up.

Or possibly an intake manifold leak that seals up some when warm? I would think you would rack up some misfire counts if so though.

try to spray carb cleaner around the intake manifold gasket when cold and see if the idle changes, that could be your problem

Ok. The last time it did it and I changed those parts then is was fine. Why was that? I have only driven the truck about 2000 miles in the last year in a half. It is more like a stutter in it.

I have done that. No change in the idle.

I had 1 about two weeks ago p0440. I changed the fuel cap and cleared the code. It hasn’t come back. When all that happened about a year ago i had the same code then.

If changing those parts the last time fixed the same problem I would be looking at those parts again to see if one of them is the problem now. Is it possible the vapor canister is getting saturated with gas for some reason and that gas needs to be burned out before it will run smoothly?
