I saw sparks

I saw sparks

Postby mprice.android [OP] » Apr 02 2021, 9:56pm

Hello,
This is my first time to post here. I have a 1990 C2500 4WD. It was fine until I let the battery run down and I tried jumping it. I think I was having a bad day cuz all I remember is hooking up the jumper cables and when I tried to start it up, I saw sparks through that gap under the hood.

Needless to say the truck has been sitting for a couple of years now. When the battery is fully charged and I try to start it now, you can hear the starter pop like it’s engaging but it doesn’t turn at all.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on where to start? My wife wants me to get rid of it but I want to fix it myself.

Have the battery tested first.

Sounds like either the battery doesn't have enough juice to actually turn the starter or the starter is shot.

I will check the battery tomorrow. Are there any fuses that I could’ve ruined ?

It could be the bendex that bolts to the starter and the wires bolt to the bendex. I think that is what it is called but that would be what I would check and be the cheapest route.

I don't remember, but I don't think you have a 'mega' fuse. But I think you might have a fusable link in the starter circuit that might have gotten fried.
