oil consumption and rough idle

Postby FiremanDan [OP] » Oct 08 2014, 10:02pm

Looking to get all the info i can before i head into the battle with the dealer and the warranty dept. I'm in the midst of my oil consumption testing. I've had 2 readings done with one more to come in the next week or so. So far the dealer has said that my consumption for my 5.3 eco has been "normal". I've been checking levels for myself and i think that the oil is reading quite low. Low enough where I would add a half to a quart of oil if i wasnt conducting the test. Just this week i was sitting at a stop light and noticed my idle was incredibly rough. Bouncing between 700-1200 rpm. It caused my check engine light to come on. The next day the light went off, but the idle was still rough. The light came back on today. I've read all about the issues with the consumption. I've also read that the plugs foul up with oil, mainly the number one cylinder. My question is, what do i need to tell the dealer so that i can get them to definitively fix this problem and not give me the run around that the dealer is known to. My truck is under warranty still. Thanks for the help in advance.

In addition if anyone can direct me to a service bulletin on this issue I would greatly appreciate it.

TSB# 10-06-01-008G

Search for it on google or on here.

The dealer took care of it for me with no run around or consumption tests. If your dealer is screwing with you, go to a different one.
