Exhaust Question True Duals to Single i/o muffler

Postby Lifted07Sierra5.3 [OP] » Mar 12 2021, 5:00pm

Right now I'm running Duals from the Cat's back in to a Dual in Dual out Flowmaster Super 10. I like the flowmaster sound unless i'm at WOT it gets raspy and a bit clappy. I love the tone and sound of the Borla Atak Crate Mufflers and the XR1 muffler, my issue is that both mufflers are Single in/Single out. I don't want to ditch the true dual setup!!! I've found a couple Ypipe "adapters" that might allow for Duals to Y into the Single in and Y out the back. I don't particularly want a traditional Ypipe as the Duals are already in place. Will this have any negative impact on Flow or Sound?

**Future upgrades will include Pacesetter Ceramic Coated Longtube Headers (hopefully staying true duals).**

EngineMasters TV show just did a dual/single exhaust comparison on the dyno.

See if you can find it on line. It had a few surprises.

Update:
Every exhaust shop (2) i've visited said that the LT Headers I purchased (Pacesetter Stainless Steel) would not fit my truck. The collector is running dead center of the front drive shaft. No way to modify the headers to make this work per both shops. I purchased the Headers from Summit Racing, which says these will fit my truck, I've checked the MFG website and they also state these headers will fit. Both shops are telling me that there is no way the headers are made for a 4wd. The headers themselves have a part number stamp that matches what I researched and purchased. It's a long shot but possible that PaceSetter put the wrong part# stamp on the wrong headers, box, and sent them to Summit, which sent them to me. Could there be something that I/They have overlooked when trying to install these? (I'm no apprentice/expert mechanic, more like a novice) These headers will not even bolt up to the heads, both shops tried the driverside only and when it wouldn't fit didn't bother wasting their time to check the passenger side (no point in wasting their time and my money).
Any ideas? or just send them back to Summit for a Refund.

Mean time Cats were deleted, installed a new Borla muffler and retune.
No cats true dualed into a Flowmaster Super 10 sounds like a bubba'd up clapped out piece of junk.

Send them back and tell Summit what happened. Make sure they understand and have them recommend something to you. Pacesetter has fitment issues now and then. On an 07 though you should easily get headers to fit. Check speed-engineering they have good stuff but again fitment issues sometimes.

I would also say you may need new motor mounts as sometimes worn mounts cause fitment issues.

I dont suppose you accidentally got a set of the 07 classic headers?

I would get in touch with summit on return/exchange But i would probably be calling the manufacturer first to see what you actually may have.
