Resonator Delete?

Postby jeremiah4699 [OP] » Jan 13 2016, 4:54pm

Ok so I have a question: I have a 2013 GMC 5.3L V8 with Flowmaster Outlaws and a header dump right before the muffler for extra sound. My question is what is what if I cut out my resonator and put in a pipe of the same size?? What would happen to the sound, power, fuel milage, etc.? Please help! Thanks!!

It will be louder and have a slightly different sound without the resonator. The sound of the AFM/DOD will be more pronounced. But it won't have an effect on power or fuel mileage.

Oh ok, so dropping into V4 will be more distinct, gotcha. So basically just a bit louder even with the header dumps open is the main thing?

Will taking out the resonator screw with my computer inside the truck? Or will nothing happen besides a louder, more defined sound?

The only purpose of resonator is to reduce resonance, so removing it will just make your exhaust louder and no performance impact. I don't think it will cause serious problem.
