Bow Tie

Bow Tie

Postby MH Hawker [OP] » Sep 28 2013, 12:50am

I just ordered a black powder coated bow tie the finish off my mods and changes, and I am thinking about painting it to match the truck color, Thats the crimson red known as sport red. Blacks would look real good to. Its one of those I cant make my mind up things. My new tail lights and the bow tie will be in in a few days.

Maybe do both...black with red trim or red with black trim?

I'll second that. Both colors. Color match your red for the bowtie and black for the border.

Yea I like the sound of that. The red bow tie with a black boarder, it should stand out but blend in. I got a bit of chrome all ready up front.

Got the bow tie in today but waiting on paint from the dealer, had to get it from there, they dont have a color match in the Duplicolor paints. It will be a week before I can finish it.

My paint made it in today so I should be ready to start and I need a bit of advice, I have never worked with powder coated surfaces, its a black powder coated alum bow tie so right now I am thinking on a very light buffing with about 600 grit sand paper to give it a good surface to stick to then several light thin coats of color painting and several of clear.

mm I haven't put it on the truck yet, but I would think its ok, its a black powder coated one aluminum. the original one is plastic. A rock was thrown up and broke the original. The originals seam to be cheep ass.
