Front bumper air dam, 2005 silverado

Front bumper air dam, 2005 silverado

Postby frost7092 [OP] » Jan 23 2012, 9:38pm

I recently purchased a 2005 chevy silverado and noticed the limited amount of clearance i get on the front end of the truck due to the front air dam. After looking through my owners manual i noticed that there is a section that talks about the dam and even gives instructions on how to take it off for offroading. My question is why is the equipment necessary to have, what are the effects of removing the dam, and does anyone have a picture of the truck without it.

Don't have pic but i think it is very ugly without the dam. as for function it is no problem to have it off it is for looks and aerodynamics.

see that's a whole section of the bumper. the lower air dam is part that is attached to the plastic part of the bumper. you can remove the air dam separately. your truck might not have come with one im guessing?
