how to re-bolt oem front bumper? and replace grille

Postby jaco_broom [OP] » Dec 31 2016, 5:54am

my friend's grille guard/bumper combo took a little hit so we took it off and are putting the oem front bumper back on the truck. it's a 2015 silverado 1500. we figured out where the 3 bolts around each recovery hook bolts onto the bumper but now we're left with a couple bars, 2 bolts on one end and 1 bolt on the other, each bar has the bolts on one end vertical and the other end horizontal. where would these hook up at?

and how would we go about removing the oem grill and putting a different one in?

Not sure about the bumper, but you remove the plastic shroud above the radiator held down with push pins. Once that is removed you will see 3 or 4 10mm across top of grill. On the underside you will see 4 or 5 10 mm that are horizontal running front to back of truck. 2 or 3 between frame rails and one either side outboard of frame rails. Right about where the grill meets the plastic bumper cover. Also the bumper cover comes off with two 7mm either side in wheel well where bumper cover wraps around into wheel well. One is visible and other is facing threads up. Get low and look up just past where the visible one was. Grab bumper cover ends and pull out in a peeling motion out and away from wheel well. Now grill and bumper cover come off in one piece. This is by far easier than any other way. This gives good access to bumper at this point from top also. Comes off in under 10 minutes once you have done it once.
