LEAK

WEIRD WIND SHIELD

LEAK

Postby Richard K [OP] » Feb 29 2020, 10:48pm

HELLOW TRUCKERS, :? So hears the new problem, it just started in late december 2019, When it gets cold and frosty and ice forms on the top of my wind shield and thaws later that mourning the inside top of my wind shield drips or weeps down to the bottom of the glass, From the top center only, And only when there is frost, And not when there is rain or washing it,I am going to look into resealing it, but weird, any body else have this happen. KEEP ON TRUCKING

Not had that problem, but apparently your seal is compromised....You can try a little of that windshield butyl rubber externally, but chances are the water will find it's way around it. Some really good windshield shops may be willing to remove the windshield, clean off all the old sealant from the windshield and seating surface, reapply the butyl and reset the windshield. Some won't out of fear of breaking the windshield.

I've used clear bathroom caulk before to seal a pretty bad leak on a Camaro hatch window. I guess it depends on how much you want to spend and how picky you are

If trying to seal up a window, I would consider some of this stuff: https://www.amazon.com/Geocel-GC28100-F ... 210&sr=8-1.

It is used on RV windows. It is not as "thick" as a standard silicone and tends to settle into tiny crevices and holes to seal them up. I have used it to reseal a couple windows a couple years ago on my travel trailer....haven't had a problem since. It comes in white or clear, I believe.
