2015 Chevy HD2500 I have the same dimple forming on the rear fender wells that are from the inside out. They are in the same spot on both sides. I have not taken to dealer yet, but wanted to see if anyone else has had this happen. I read another topic that someone was told it was rocks getting in between the wheel well liner and fender, but not in the same exact spot isn’t likley.

I think if you pull the tail light you will be able to see that area.

I have those same dimples on my 2011. My neighbor is a service manager for a gm dealer here in my area. He seen them on my truck and said those are from rocks getting between the panels. He said the only way to prevent them are wheel well liners. I added mine after the dimples were already there from the previous owner. I didn’t know that’s what caused them. Nor do I fully believe it. Lol. I added my liners due to the fact I have a body lift. Not for the dimples.

I might pull the tail light and see what I can see. I’m due for a oil change and tire rotation so I may see if the dealer body shop manager can give me an opinion. Not sure how it could be a rock when it’s in the exact same spot on each side. Seems to me it is some sort of a mount.

I have the same in my ‘13 Sierra. I just figured that they were spot weld locations.

That's what my neighbors 2009 truck looked like and it started rusting in those spots . Hopefully not your case though.

I can’t see that being caused by rocks just because they appear to be in the exact same location of their respective panels on either side.
My guess would be something below the body panel that gives way and is pushing on the exterior like that.

Now I’ll have to check my truck lol ..

Update. Took my tail lights out and was able to look up in the inside. To my disbelief there was a rock lodged on each side. There is plenty off room for rocks to get up in that area as the whole back under the tail light is open. I was able to get them out with a long stiff steel wire/rod. See pics.

Mud guards/mud flaps are your friend for this reason!! They may not stop all; but they stop most.

The modern/cool "look" doesn't allow this though.

Good lord! That’s crazy..

Sorry, do you:
1. Have mud guards?
2. Rear wheel house liners?

I’m looking at removing my guards maybe, this might change my mind.
