Question about the "chevrolet" on rear tail gate

Question about the "chevrolet" on rear tail gate

Postby robytar [OP] » Apr 24 2012, 1:07am

I was wondering why some chevy trucks, mainly 1999-2005 have the large letters "CHEVROLET" and others say Silverado on one side and Chevrolet on the other on the tail gate. Was it some kind of option?

Thanks!

correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the LS models have the gates with Chevrolet across the back? I know it is on the "low end" models.

Yeah, it is a trim level thing. I actually preffered the sticker on the back of my 2000 Silverado, it came off extremely easy when it was brand new. The funny thing is I still have all the badging on my Sierra and didn't mess with the badges on my SS Silverado for obvious reasons as well. I have been contemplating pull off the FlexFuel sticker though.

Mine is an LS and it does not have the large CHEVROLET letters. It just says silverado on the lower left and chevrolet on the lower right. My guess is the non LS, LT trucks have the large letters.

I believe for the NBS, all of the 2003 trucks had the sticker on the tailgate, while the 04-06 had the "Chevrolet" and "Silverado" badges on the back (unless you have the SuperSport package, of course).

I was under the assumption, that the trucks that displayed Chevrolet on the tailgate had the composite box, while the ones that did not display the Chevrolet name on the back had the metal box.

My father was a 04 Silverado work truck package, and he has the big "Chevrolet" across the back tailgate.

I had a 2005 WT silverado that had the large stickers silverado, I know two people that have LS silverados in that body style they have the badges my guess would be that the lower models have the large silverado stickers.
