Will a 2014 Tonneau fit a 2016

Tonneau cover question

Postby nysilverado16 [OP] » Dec 01 2019, 10:35pm

Hey guys, first post here, new silverado owner. In the market for a tonneau but dont want to break the bank. I found a hard tri-fold for 380 on amazon but states its for 07-14 short beds. I saw in two reviews they worked on their 15 and 18. After looking at bed dimensions it seems those years and my 16 are the same so it should work, right? Has any tried this?

remember is needs to be for a CC,DC or Extended cab. I think they all have different bed dimensions, but not sure on the Extended cab.
So make sure it is for a CC Short Bed.

Originally I was going to go for that one! But I need the hard folding one for reasons, first I have a construction business so I don’t want to risk slamming it down and tearing it. Second I’m just plain old rough on my stuff lol

The GMT800 and newer trucks aren't like the older 73-98 GM trucks with short and long beds.
GM made two short beds and a long bed for the Silverado & Sierra GMT800 trucks. Short Bed= 69.3"/5.775', Standard Bed= 78.7"/6.5583', and Long Bed= 97.6"/ 8.1333'
Not sure if this carried over to the GMT900 & K2 chassis but it would not be shocking.

I have the Truxedo Truxport roll up cover. Gives me full bed access without pulling off the cover.

I know the different dimensions, I’m just asking if anyone had taken a short bed tonneau from 2014 or older and was able to use it in their 2015 or newer short bed. Dimensions all seem the same I just want to make sure before I purchase. Reason being is the cover for the 07-14 is like 200 cheaper than the one for my ‘16.

I wouldn't recommend it because a minor change can make a huge impact with fitting and how your cover fits. Small misfit can cause major headache and leaks.
the link for $700 cover is toughautoparts.com if you're interested, use their promo FRIDAY and you'll save a lot rather then buying a non fitting cover.
