What to use to get rid of rust on exhaust

What to use to get rid of rust on exhaust

Postby tony477g [OP] » Aug 19 2013, 6:46pm

the salt got to my exhaust unfortunately as you can see it's only on the exhaust tip. At this point even if it leaves it pitted it'll look better than orange. So what are some things you guys have done to get rid of the rust, home remedies, things you bought from store etc.

I would check your local home depot I think they have something a little smaller than a gallon. I can't remember if they do or not. But I bought a gallon cause I used it for quite a bit of different things. But just trying to help out.

Try some 00 or 000 steel wool... it should remove the rust w/o scratching the metal... but if that rust is very deep... you may be better off cutting the tip off & replacing it with a stainless steel version instead of a chromed steel one..

I agree with him that is another great option to do. I think putting on a stainless steel tip would be the best thing . :)

I don't know that those tips are going to clean up, back to chrome anyway. I'd grab some sand paper, and high temp paint...

Just about anywhere that carries exhaust parts, local auto parts stores, exhaust shops, ebay, etc...
