What tuner

Postby kevin_n [OP] » Sep 14 2020, 12:59pm

So I am thinking about buying a tuner for my 2012 Silverado 1500. I am only looking for one for two reasons.
1. To disable the function of it shutting 4 cylinders off
2. To help with fuel mileage and shift points with towing

A friend of mine has the edge CTS2 from edge and loves it. I was looking at the one step below the CS2. I was also looking at the bully dog tuner. I know a lot of people here use the Diablo tuner but was just looking for opinions on the other ones. The truck is completely stock with only 57,000 miles. Am also hoping that maybe whatever tuner I buy can transfer to a new truck, time line for a new truck is 2 to 3 years down the road.

Thanks
Kevin

Get one of the diablo tuners and get with Lew for a custom tune.

Other than that, all the canned tunes are pretty lack luster and really don't make a huge difference.

You won't see hardly any, if any at all, fuel milage increase.

And how new are you thinking as far as transferring to a new truck? 2019LD will be the last year any of the tuners will work for. Anthing 2019 and beyond will need a whole new ECM to be able to be tuned.

https://www.diablewtune.com/

You can buy directly from here or pick up a used one that is unmarried and get a custom tune. Either way. Typically go for $200 ish used depending on model.

I like that it doubles as a code reader myself since I did not have one.

That's http://www.diablewtune.net, Brad.....

And to the OP.....there are literally thousands of posts on tuners and tuning on the site.....Sometimes it will be to your benefit to search, research, and digest all you can on the topic, so that you can make an informed decision, and then ask the question

I don't think there are too many guys around here using any others. And for a good reason, I think, since Diablo does the same thing than the others plus you get the chance of getting a Lewtune while you're at it. No reason to go with anything else, really.

Blackbear is a big one on performancetrucks.net and is a sponsor on the site, they are also cheaper than a Lew iirc but doesn't come with a handheld device like Diablo it is just a straight up computer editor
