Headlight Bulb Replacement

Do Not Want HID

Headlight Bulb Replacement

Postby SalyersSierra2012 [OP] » Dec 02 2019, 2:53pm

Looking to replace just my headlight bulb as I hate the yellow looking haze that these OEM lights give out. Looking for some input on replacing just the bulbs for a crisper, brighter more clearer light. Not wanting HID or any type of retrofit.

Any help or input is appreciated.

Thanks
Scott

not familiar with using the SL1s in the projectors and I know you said you didn't want to retrofit but they are so easy to do on the projector housings.. no need to bake open the lights or anything could get way more bang for your buck if you upgraded the crappy OEM projectors and the lights to something better like D2s 4.0s and CBIs and I believe theres an even better one but I will have to dig to find it again

These will be brighter and a little whiter but bulb life is extremely shortened:

Short of going to an LED or HID, those are about the best you're gonna find.

I've modded a set of H9 bulbs to replace the stock H11's. More light and the same bulb life according to Sylvania. Priced right, too.

So... After a little browsing around and looking at some HID kits for my projector low beam, I have reflector housing for the high beam side so I def don't want to HID the high beam side... Would I be safe to add a HID kit 35W to these projectors without causing and damage?

I appreciate all yalls help and input.

Yes, you can add an HID, 35w is all you need as well. One thing to check though....with your low beams on, if you flash you high beams, do your lows shut off for a second? If so, you're going to want to do a simple low/high mod. Otherwise, if you ever flash someone, when the lows come back on, the HID ballast will need a second to reach full brightness.

On my 2006, obviously very different than 2018, it was a simple resistor jump in the under-hood fuse box.
