TRS 36" LED light bar installed on 2017

Postby eurovic [OP] » Jun 22 2017, 6:37pm

Finished up fabricating the brackets and installing my 36" Morimoto light bar. For the money you just cannot beat TRS and Morimoto. 5 year warranty, CREE brand leds, 12,800 lumens all for $175.

I originally wanted to mount this behind the grill but my truck has those "shutters" for aero...just like a Bugatti Veyron    With the grill being out of the question, there is a perfect spot for a 36" bar in the airdam.

I mounted the bar into the factory holes for the airdam using a 1/4" nut and bolt, after removing the screw clip.

Wiring was typical and simple, making sure to use a relay. For a switch I custom mounted a push button into the other cigarette style charge ports. Opposite of the button for my train horn.

As the led refectors are conical the light spread is just that, conical. So being lower than the grill does not have any noticeable effect, the spread is fantastic.

That is a clean install. I was curious about light output being that low. Maybe report back with a night shot sometime.

The bleeping morons at rough country tried to argue with me telling me my Z71 grill had active aero and that's why their dual row bar was almost completely blocked by my grill. I wish I saw TRS had a bar, I much rather deal with them.

Yours is nice and low so it would actually be functional in bad weather, I saw they have orange film you can add over it also.
SierraHarley: So lets gets this straight.... your opinion is people shouldn't post their opinions and people should be able to do whatever they want although you're telling people that have a difference of opinion what they should do?

They do send amber films. It's really nice because every 4 lights has their own removable guard. Therefore you can have dual color with the same bar, with as much or as little amber as you desire.

Surprised they have not just come up with a "switchback" type lightbar for such dual use.

Wonder if the Yellow film is anything like the Yellow Lamin-X film on my fogs. Would be cool to match. Could use Lamin-X on them too I suppose, stuff sticks real good. I like this bar and the simple air dam install you chose. Low profile and discreet. Looks good OP.
