Info for Headliner Swap from 3 Door Ext. Cab

02 Headliner (Ext. Cab 4 door)

Postby Partshunter [OP] » Jan 18 2020, 5:05am

Hey fellas!

I have a 02 Silverado extended cab 4 door.
I have a HEADLINER from 3 Door Extended cab (same year).
I'm wanting to swap them out (mines a mess). BUT- I was hoping to be certain that they will interchange BEFORE I Pull Mine Out. I'm planning to recover the headliner (if it fits).

Can anyone answer this question with certainty one way or another?

Appreciate ya!

I looked to see if checking for parts online showed different options. This site did not show a 3 or 4 door selection. Shows that it fits many different models though.

I can't say this is a definitive answer for you but perhaps doing some additional digging from other sites looking for this type of info may help. Or give a dealership a call and find out if they show different options based on door configuration.

I had a 99 ext cab, my understanding was that was the last year for the 3 door and 2000 and up were 4 door but I could be wrong.

I am pretty sure that they won't interchange,
I had a couple 4 door extended cab 99-07 classic trucks,
and later had a 99 new body 3 door ext cab.

If I remember correctly, the '99 3 door trucks' headliner was a good bit different in the back seat
drivers side area because it went pretty much all the way to the rear side window glass on that side.
If you look at your truck, you will see that both of your rear doors have a molding around the window glass
that is a couple inches deep.

It might be possible to trim some off of the 3 door trucks headliner on the rear drivers side using yours as a template,
but would be hard to get it just right.

Just consulted my collection of chevy brochures to answer this question :

The '99-'00 Silverado ext cab ( new body ) had 3 doors standard with the 4th door being an option.
Then in 2001 all ext cabs had 4 doors standard.

Surprised me a little bit, I didn't think 4 doors became standard until 2004 or so
